After much contemplation about what my first post should
discuss, I’ve decided that it should give all of you lovely readers out there
an idea what you can expect from me in the future. Let’s start with a little bit of an about me
to get things rolling.
As the name of this blog, Homegrown Momma, suggests, I am a
mom. At the present time I have one
precious baby boy who stole my heart the moment I laid eyes on him fourteen
months ago. His daddy, Ben, is the love
of my life, my soul mate, the man who makes me want to be better, the guy who
can drive me nuts more than anyone else can.
He’s going back to school now with dreams of getting into medical school
and becoming a pediatrician in our rural community. We believe with all our hearts that this is
God’s plan for his life and are trusting that He will work all things for the
good.
Speaking of schooling, let’s cover mine. I graduated from Vincennes University
(henceforth VU) in 2012 with a BS in Secondary Science Education with
concentrations in both chemistry and biology.
While I haven’t found a job teaching at a high school yet, I have been
blessed to spend this past fall and now this spring semester also teaching
chemistry labs at VU as an adjunct professor.
This has been a wonderful opportunity for which I will be forever
grateful.
As a family we enjoy worshipping at FBC Bicknell on Sunday
mornings. Ben teaches Sunday school to
kids in grades four through six. I hear
they have a great time while learning great biblical truths and how to apply
them to their lives. I love my church
family. They have become some of my
closest friends over the years. I’m
excited to be raising Tony and any subsequent children in this church.
I spent most of my time at home attempting to pick up after
my Tony, crocheting, doing laundry, cooking, and taking pictures. Notice how I didn’t mention spending time
putting the laundry away or doing dishes?
Yeah, that’s because I’m a pro at avoiding those two things. I really enjoy cooking whether it’s an old
favorite recipe, something new and different, or just doctoring up a box
meal. Crocheting has been in a tie as my favorite
hobby since I was about six months pregnant.
I’ve been blessed to be able to turn my hobby into a little bit of an
income in the past months by starting a little business called Hometown Handmades. I adore photography; it's my other favorite hobby.
Now that you know more about me, you probably have a good
idea of what I’ll be talking about on here.
You can expect posts regarding my husband’s and my adventures (and misadventures)
in parenthood, my thoughts on what God is doing in my life, and tales of young
college professor. You might also find
recipes, a crochet pattern or two thrown in every now and then, pictures I've taken with posts, and anything
else God places on my heart.
Until next time, be blessed!
Nicole
